With the recent attacks on the US embassy and protests throughout the world many are wondering what our official position is. We as American Muslims mourn the loss of our fellow Americans and express our deepest condolences to their families. We are in direct agreement with the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), earlier this week they had a press release in which they explained their official position. The release and video can be accessed through the links below. We pray for peaceful times ahead, May Peace and Blessings be Upon You all.

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

“For which of My Favors do ye deny”.

                                                        Al-Quran

By His grace, we have been favored with a mosque for our growing community. Our mosque is not only a place of congregational prayer on Fridays but provides an oasis of tranquility as well; where one should find solace from the agitation of everyday life.  It is also a place of learning and community participation, both men and women, young and old. Are we to take this for granted?  Should we expect the mosque to operate on the generosity of some and not others?

Inshallah, we can as a community collectively and effectively ensure the operation and running of the mosque by our show of commitment through recurring pledged contributions.  If every individual were to commit monthly to even a small amount through “automated charge” via their credit cards, we could effectively avoid the agony of wondering how our next light or water bill is to be paid. Needless to say, it would also avoid having one of the executive committee members pleading for funds at the end of Jumu’a.

Mashallah, we have about 200-300 of us who come to the mosque every Friday.  If each of us were to contribute a minimum of $30 monthly, it would mean a total of anywhere between $6000.00 -$9000.00 per month toward the running and maintenance of our mosque.  Allah SWT has said in the Quran that it is in the consistency of our deeds that that he is looking for. As some of us may have had the experience, it would also ensure that we would avoid the chance of not having cash in hand at Jumu’a to give for the Allah’s sake!

There is no loss but only reward for those who give in charity…”Giving away something in charity does not cause any decrease in a person’s wealth, but increases it instead. The person who adopts humility for the sake of Allah is exalted in ranks by Him”.
